This manual documents the Lambda LISP machine networking software
that is distributed with Release 4.0
of the ZetaLISP-Plus@tm@ system software.@footnote[Hereafter referred to simply as @ii(Release 4)]

Before reading this manual, review the @i(Lambda 4.0 LISP Release Notes),
which documents new features of the Release 4 software.
That manual also documents the procedure for installing Release 4.

Part I of this manual, entitled @b(Networking Release Notes),
describes changes to the networking software
in terms of @ii(functionality), @ii(installation), @ii(configuration), and @ii(operating procedures).

Experienced Lambda system managers may be able to make the necessary
configuration changes after reading
the release notes.
Others (including system managers with new Lambda systems) should read

which documents the configuration process.

Users of previous releases should read
Chapter @ref[chapter-operating], @b[@nameref(chapter-operating)]
for information on functionality that has changed.
Complete operating information is provided in

Part III of this manual contains supplementary material on various topics.
