PAGE 1 ACMAN V03 Dynamic System Account Manager Installation Instructions Lines 60 - 99 of each program in the account management package have been reserved for tailoring the programs to a particular in- stallation. As is, the package will operate when: 1) each program is compiled in account [1,2] and 2) the protection codes of "CHGPAS" and "PRIMAN" are set to 232. Storing On Another Account -------------------------- To store the account manager on an account other than [1,2], change the variable LIBR$ found in line 65 of "ACMAN" and line 70 of "MANAGE" to the account number where the package is to be stored. Then compile the programs on that account. Increasing Efficiency --------------------- Currently the programs are set up to create both workfiles on SY:. The package will run more efficiently if each of the two work- files is stored on a different public disk. To enable this, change the DATA statements at line 72 of "ACMAN" from: 72 DATA SY:, SY: to the explicit device designations referring to the public structure, such as: 72 DATA DK0:, DK1: Note that drive 0 (the system disk) should be the first entry in the list. The account manager causes the "$ACCT.SYS" file to be created on the disk drive specified in the first entry. Changing Workfile Size ---------------------- The account manage is capable of processing a maximum of 400 accounts. To process more/less accounts than these, 1) change the variable ACCT.MAX% in line 65 of "ACMAN" to indicate the maximum number of accounts to manage. 2) Change the dimension statements in line 60 of "ACMAN" such that the array size equals ACCT.MAX%. PAGE 2 Changing Disks Managed ---------------------- As is, the account manager manages accounts only on the public structure, SY:. To manage accounts on private disks also, 1) set the variable DEV.MAX% in line 70 of "MANAGE" equal to the number of private disks to manage. If DEV.MAX% is to be greater than 3, the variable DISK$() in the DIMENSION statment must be redimensioned to DEV.MAX% + 1%. 2) Include in the DATA statement at line 94 of "MANAGE" the device designators of the private disks to be managed. Do NOT remove SY: from the list of disks to be managed. SY: enables account management on all disks of the public structure simultaneously, and is the only device designator which causes the "$ACCT.SYS" file to be updated in a request. The "PRIMAN" Utility -------------------- The "PRIMAN" utility must also be set up. As it is, it will not function at all (for security reasons). All variables which must be initialized are at line 70 of "PRIMAN". Set LIBR$ equal to the account number which is allowed to create/delete accounts on a private disk drive. Set LIBPAS$ to any suitable password. Set DISK$ to the physical drive name on which the user may create/delete accounts. If the user may have access only to a particular pack on that drive, use the pack's logical name, instead. ** End of "ACMAN" installation instructions **
